Game plot

Military spaceship "Pompous" , falls into the interdimensional gap. A hole in space takes the ship into a dimension inhabited by vile monsters that instantly destroy the crew of the Pompous. Oaks is an ordinary cook who is the only survivor. His friends died, he was in an unknown section of the galaxy and his souffle is completely corrupted. He is not himself furious. Oaks, armed with a frying pan and knitted slippers, decides to confront the aliens and get out of an unknown dimension.

Gameplay

The game is a traditional first-person shooter. The levels in the game are completely three-dimensional, but sprites are used for weapons, objects and opponents. Unlike other shooters of that time, the game has almost no "labyrinth" levels. All in-game battles take place in open space. The player travels through huge locations using a jetpack. Our hero must fight with opponents and look for a teleport to the next level. The game is divided into three episodes and in each episode the color of the teleport is different. In the first episode, the teleport will be green, in the second - yellow, and in the third - red.

Title

Initially, the game was called "Pissed Off" , but after a while the name was reduced to "PO'ed" . The word "PO'ed" is taken from slang slang and it means an extreme degree of anger.

Player Weapons

The arsenal of the player is strictly thought out. One way or another, each type of weapon is useful in its own way, and you will not be able to use one thing.

  • Frying pan : Starting weapon of Ox. The less the health of the cook, the more damage is caused to the enemy from a blow with this weapon.
  • Butcher Cleaver : The player throws it in unlimited quantities. In close combat, cuts the enemy.
  • Electric drill : A construction tool that a cook uses as a melee weapon. During the “drilling” of opponents, the player’s screen gets stained with blood. Then the cook wipes the blood off the screen with his palm and at this moment you can’t start drilling or switch to another type of weapon.
  • Beam Pistol BFD-90 : Precise weapon with a slow rate of fire.
  • Flamethrower : Erupts a cloud of burning fuel. Its big minus - it uses fuel for a jetpack.
  • Wyler : a three-barreled machine gun firing tracer bullets with high speed and low accuracy.
  • Manual rocket launcher : fires a missile that does not have ballistics.
  • Impulse gun : shoots violet-colored ionized gas beams (plasmoids) at 2 rounds per second.
  • Meat finder : A plasmoid released from this weapon only reacts to foes made of flesh (the player also consists of flesh). Also, the projectile can bounce off the walls.
  • Nuclear missile launcher with guided projectile : The most powerful weapon in the game. A nuclear warhead can be controlled from the “face” of the rocket itself, since the camera is mounted in the bow of the projectile. Projectile control partially inverted.

Opponents

In this game, we are confronted by a wide variety of creatures. Each episode has its own type of opponents. In the first, for example, all ordinary enemies are living, consisting of blood and flesh. In the second episode, mechanical opponents are connected to them. And now in the last episode, absolutely all your opponents are robots of different types.

All names are taken from the official design document for the game.

  • Ralph : A red creature remotely resembling a frog. It has no eyes and focuses on hearing. His bites can greatly damage the player’s health. His "corpse" serves as a kind of first-aid kit, replenishing 5 units of health.
  • Butthead : Not related to Butthead . It looks literally like an ass on two legs. Attacks the player with a cloud of intestinal gas.
  • Amazon : An alien with yellow skin. Attacks with two plasma devices that are mounted in her hands. She has no close attack.
  • Clot : A green clot of mucus. Attacks the player with spitting. It is very difficult to kill this creature, since it does not die, but is divided into several parts.
  • Arnie : A creature similar to an ogre, throwing a large pile of stones at a player. Vulnerable to explosions and plasma.
  • Incubus : A dark green bat. Attacks with spits, and on the fly, which makes the Incubus a difficult target.
  • Bowe : A funny creature. It is a brain with eyes, which moves on a two-wheeled installation with an integrated meat finder.
  • Demon : Almost completely invisible. It can only be recognized by its red, luminous eyes. However, it is worthwhile to damage him, so he will begin to reveal his true colors and become more noticeable. Oaks can also eat his corpse and restore 10 health.
  • Manta : Giant, red beast, vaguely reminiscent of a bat. Attacks the player with his sharp jaws. In a literal sense. Spits them out in your direction.
  • Claw : A fast, flying, mechanical monster. Attacks plasma clots.
  • Cyclops : The Kamikaze Robot. Tries to slowly fly up to you, as close as possible, and explode.
  • Tork : A very agile and annoying robot. Throws projectiles at the player that look like propeller blades.
  • Turbo : A flying robot attacking with fireballs. Extremely fast.
  • Max : The same Turbo, but only bigger, and with legs. Armed with twin rocket launchers.
  • Cyber Spider : Fast and Accurate . Resistant to explosions and plasma. Appears only at the final level.
  • Turret : Not a full-fledged opponent, but also a threat.
