Arbitman, Emiliy Nikolaevich

Born in the village of Granov, Gaysinsky district, Vinitsa region of the Ukrainian SSR. He graduated from high school in Gaysin. At the end of the Kharkov Law Institute, due to the circumstances of the era, he was forced to work as a history teacher in a rural school in Ukraine; for family reasons, he moved to Saratov in the summer of 1956. He studied in absentia at the History Department of Saratov University . He defended his thesis “Artists of the GDR” (1960).

He worked in the Saratov State Art Museum named after A.N. Radishchev , as a researcher (since 1956), as a deputy director for scientific work (1964-1980). He taught the history of fine art at the History Department of SSU and at the Saratov Conservatory. Candidate of Art History, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, member of AIS. Research interests Russian art of the 19th and 20th centuries. Art of Saratov of the 20th century, domestic and foreign art of a totalitarian era, theoretical problems of art.
