Biography
Ivan Korovin was born in the family of a priest on January 6 ( 18 ), 1865 in the village of Zhitnikovsky Kargapolsky volost of the Shadrinsky district of the Perm province , now the village is the administrative center of the Zhitnikovsky village council of the Kargapolsky district of the Kurgan region . His father, Pyotr Matveyevich (born 1834), was the son of a deacon and served in the local Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk church. Mother - Alexandra Pavlovna. The family also had a daughter, Maria (born 1884).
He graduated from the Dalmatian Theological College (1879) and the Perm Theological Seminary (1886).
He worked as a teacher at the Kamyshlovsky city parish school in the Perm province (1886–1888).
In 1888 he entered the Faculty of Medicine of the newly opened Tomsk University . Professor M.N. Popov became his teacher and supervisor.
In 1893 he graduated with honors from the medical faculty of Tomsk University , receiving a doctor ’s degree.
He took an active part in the elimination of the cholera epidemic in the Tomsk province (1892).
From January 1, 1894 - assistant to the prospector at the Department of Forensic Medicine, from August 21, 1894 he worked as a prospector at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Imperial Military Medical Academy , in addition to 1895–1896 he acted as a prospector at the St. Petersburg Psychiatric Hospital of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker .
In the academic year 1894/95 he passed the exams for the degree of Doctor of Medicine. In 1897 he defended his thesis "Pathological anatomy of uremia" for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (the opponents were professors K. N. Vinogradov , F. I. Pasternatsky and privat docent A. I. Moiseyev) and was confirmed as a prosector at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Military Medical Academy .
In 1917, he was sent to Perm University , where he became the first head of the department of pharmacy and pharmacognosy that was just created at the medical faculty. Soon, he transferred the chair of the department to the master of pharmacy N.I. In addition to [1] .
In addition, he founded the Department of Pathological Anatomy and Histology at Perm University . At the same time he was a professor in the department of forensic medicine. I.P. Korovin organized a pathological and anatomical institute at PSU and laid the foundation for the library of the institute.
In July 1919, together with part of the faculty, he was evacuated to Tomsk , where he taught and temporarily headed the Department of Pathological Anatomy of Tomsk University . Re-evacuated to Perm in the spring and summer of 1920.
In 1923 - the head. Department of Forensic Medicine, Medical Faculty of Perm University [2] .
Since 1924 - professor at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Dnipropetrovsk Medical Institute .
Ivan Petrovich Korovin died of tuberculosis on July 23, 1927 in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, Dnepropetrovsk district of the Ukrainian SSR , now the city of Dnepr, Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine .
Scientific activity
As a student, he showed outstanding abilities for scientific work, studying at the Department of Forensic Medicine. The student work of I. P. Korovin “On the doctrine of actinomycosis ” was presented at a meeting of the Society of Naturalists and Doctors at Tomsk University and was highly appreciated.
The 5th year student's essay, IP Korovin, on the subject of the origin of sudden death from causes lying in the heart, was awarded a gold medal and published in Izvestia, Tomsk University (1894).
Working in St. Petersburg , I.P. Korovin had his own clinical, bacteriological and pathological anatomical laboratory, one of the best in the capital (on Zhukovsky St.). Having gone to Perm , he brought this laboratory (equipment for it and part of the staff) with him, which became the material base for the department of pathological anatomy of the university , which he headed [3] .
Scientific work
Under his editorship, a translation from German of Langerhans' book, Fundamentals of Pathological Anatomy, was published (St. Petersburg, 1898).
