Azerbaijan Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikret Amirov

The Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikret Amirov ( azerb. Fikrət Əmirov adına Azərbaycan Dövlət Mahnı və Rəqs Ansamblı ) is a musical and choreographic group from the city of Baku , created by Uzeyir Hajibeyov in 1938 . Since 1984 it bears the name of the Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov . The ensemble's repertoire consists of songs, dances, choral works of Azerbaijan and the peoples of the world.

Activities

The ensemble was created by the founder of classical music of Azerbaijan, Uzeyir Hajibeyov [1] in 1938 , at a time when similar ensembles were created throughout the USSR .

At various times, the ensemble was led by such Azerbaijani composers as Said Rustamov , Jahangir Jahangirov , Vasif Adygezalov , Haji Khanmamedov , Telman Hajiyev, Ramiz Mirishli [2] . Since 1999, the head of the ensemble has been the People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Agaverdi Pashayev.

On June 13, 1958, the ensemble was awarded the title "Honored Collective". In 1984, after the death of the composer Fikret Amirov , the ensemble was named after him.

Since 2000, the Azerbaijan State Orchestra of Folk Instruments has been operating under the ensemble.

Amin Dilbazi , Tutu Khamidov, Boyukaga Mammadov, Roza Jalilova, Alia Ramazanova, Afag Malikova, Kamil Dadashov, Alikram Aslanov, Nadir Mammadov and other dance masters began their career in the ensemble's choreographic group.
