The sources of the river (most likely, there were several) were in the middle of old Perm. One of the sources is the former swampy lake on the site of the Black Market [1] . In the middle of the XIX century, drainage works were carried out on the territory of the market. The Perm plan of 1908 depicts without signature a drainage ditch passing through blocks 65–69 and adjoining the Permyanka channel in block 65. It was first shown (with the signature "ditch") on the plan of Perm in 1897 [2] [3] .
In the XIX and early XX centuries, the river flowed through the territory, built up with private wooden or semi-brick houses. The facades of the houses looked onto the streets, and the kitchen gardens went to the river. In some places, this territory was swampy, especially in the spring [1] . Considering that the urban sewage system was only launched in 1917, this had a negative impact on the sanitary and hygienic condition of the city, which in the Permyanka district reached the point where residents cheaply sold their homes and moved to other places [4] .
In the 1920s, part of the river was enclosed in a reservoir. In the middle of the 20th century, a landscape characterization of the Permyanka river valley area was compiled, in the course of geological surveys of which it was found that the river valley was impractical for development due to the weak bearing capacity of soils - as a result, Permyanka was enclosed in a collector [5] . An esplanade was organized in the river valley and the Perm Academic Theater was built , the fate of the construction of which, due to its location in the former riverbed, had its own difficulties. In particular, a high level of groundwater required, when designing, to increase the height of the building so that the utility rooms and the stage hold were above ground level [6] .
At present, storm water is discharged into the river [7] .
