Mohamed Ashik ( French: Mohamed Achik ; born February 1, 1965 ) is a Moroccan boxer , representative of the lightest and semi-lightweight categories. He played for the Moroccan boxing team in the late 1980s - mid 1990s, bronze medalist of the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona , winner and medalist of tournaments of international importance.

Biography
Mohamed Ashik was born on February 1, 1965.
The first serious success at the adult international level was achieved in the 1988 season, when he joined the main team of the Moroccan national team and won the international tournament βAhmet Komertβ in Istanbul. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the country's honor at the Seoul Summer Olympics , however, he was defeated here already at the preliminary stage of the lightest weight category.
In 1989, Ashik won the French Open in Saint-Nazaire, won the bronze medal in the Canadian Cup in Ottawa, became the second at the AIBA Challenge Matches international home tournament in Casablanca and attended the World Championships in Moscow , where he was stopped at the quarter-finals by Bulgarian Kirkor Kirkorov .
In 1990, he became the bronze medalist of the international Box-Am tournament in Spain.
Being among the leaders of the boxing team of Morocco, Mohamed Ashik successfully passed the selection for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . This time he managed to beat three rivals in the category up to 54 kg, while in the semifinals he lost to Cuban Hoel Casamayor by technical knockout in the first round, thereby receiving a bronze Olympic award.
After the Barcelona Olympics, Ashik remained in the main squad of the Moroccan national team and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1994, he won a silver medal at the Tropho Italy tournament in Mestre, and in 1996 he won the African home championship in Casablanca, which was also an African Olympic qualification. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , speaking in the featherweight category, in the first duel with a score of 7:15 he was defeated by the Australian Robbie Piden [1] .
His older brother Abdelhak Ashik was also a well-known boxer, is also a bronze Olympic medalist.
