The game takes place at the end of the 19th century , when a gradual cooling begins around the world. According to the official version, this is due to the fact that volcanoes Krakatau and Tambora , constantly erupting, emit huge amounts of volcanic dust into the atmosphere, which prevents the rays of the Sun from passing through the Earth’s atmosphere and heating its surface. The British Empire finances the construction of a secret observatory in the Arctic, after which the scientists working there conclude that the cooling is caused by the decay of the Sun , and this process will continue. In an atmosphere of strict secrecy, the British are building in the Arctic, in areas untouched by civilization and keeping intact large mineral reserves, generators - huge stoves that burn coal and generate heat to heat rooms. Climate changes are happening faster than scientists predicted, southern states that have never experienced such problems and are completely unprepared for them, die first. After some time, the British Empire ceases to exist as a state, since financing research and construction of generators has undermined the British economy; already built generators are abandoned. When the whole Earth is covered with ice and snow, the surviving residents of the cities (Londoners are part of the survivors), huddling in groups, go to the Arctic, where they get to the powerful generator around which they will build their settlement ^{[3] [4]} .

66 hours after the release of the game, 250 thousand copies were sold. This was announced by the CEO of the company Grzegorz Mechowski through his twitter. He also announced plans to support the game ^[5] . Already in the year of release for the game, many free updates are expected, among which there will be new modes and a survival scenario ^[6] . In total, 5 updates are planned for 2018. Updates for 2019 have also been announced ^[7] .

On April 24, steam received news from the developers, where they summed up the results for the first year of sale of the game. ^[8] The news reported the sale of 1.4 million copies of the game in 191 countries.

The game was originally developed for Windows , but even before the release, the company announced the possibility of porting to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles ^[9] .
