Content
DescriptionThe main background of the wings is pale yellow. Females are larger than males. On the wings are black, red and blue spots. The front wing is triangular, wide. The outer edge of the wings is rounded. The lower wings are rounded. The eyes are smooth, large, equipped with small tubercles on which short setae sit. Antenna club-shaped, relatively short (1/3 - 1/4 of the length of the costal margin of the front wing).
RangeEndemic of Iran . Known only from the typical locality: Iran, Lurestan , Pol-e-Dokhtar, where it is locally found on semi-arid rocky slopes at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level [1] [2] .
BiologyButterflies lead an exclusively daily lifestyle and are active only in sunny weather. Needing additional nutrition, they willingly visit flowering plants. Develops in one generation in a year. Caterpillars feed on plants of the genus Aristolochia : Aristolochia olivieri [3] .
