Content
DescriptionFore wing length 22–27 mm. The wings are yellow. Fore wing in transverse black stripes of different sizes. Hind wing with black spots in the basal region, near the outer serrated edge there are blue spots in black rims, in the anal corner there are two red spots next to a tiny blue one, and the M3 vein has a short tail.
RangeThe species is endemic to China , where it occurs in Zhejiang , Hubei , Anhui , Jiangsu , Shaanxi , Chongqing (Daba Shan) [1] [2] .
BiologyButterflies fly from April to mid-May. Males appear first, females fly 2-5 days later (depending on the weather conditions of the season). Eggs are laid by the female groups on the underside of the leaves of the feed plants. The feed plant of the caterpillars Asarum forbesii and Asarum sieboldii [3] [4] . Pupa winters [5] .
