Serbosek ( Croatian Srbosjek , Serb. Srbosek / Srbosek ( Ekava type of pronunciation ), Srbosјek / Srbosjek ( Iekava or Ekava type of pronunciation ); literally: “ Serborez ”) - a blade on a rough leather gauntlet. Used by Croatian Ustashi [1] [2] [3] . Had a grip on his arm. "Serboraza" did not have an established form, it could change from a converted braid to high-quality factory blades longer than 30 cm.
Sheaf knife ( German: Garbenmesser ), used as a serbose cutter and became the prototype for specialized artisanal and factory analogues, was produced since 1926 by the German company Solingen , had a peaceful agricultural purpose and a blade length of 5-7 cm [4] .
A new version of the “Serbosek” was developed after the Croatian government Ante Pavelic held a special competition on the question: which knife should be made so that the executioners could kill people as quickly as possible and at the same time get tired as little as possible [2] .
The “Serboraz” party was made during the Second World War by a factory in the German city of Solingen by special order of the Government of the Independent State of Croatia . Knives from this party were used for the massacre of Serbs in the concentration camp of Jasenovac and other places [1] [2] [3] . Such a knife had the inscription “ Gräwiso ” on the leather part of the knife , and therefore it is sometimes called the “graviso knife”.
Nikola Nikolic describes the Serbosek who fell into the hands of the Yugoslav partisans as having a 12-centimeter blade and a blade on the outside [5] .
In the concentration camp of Jasenovac, there were competitions in the speed of the killing of “Serbosekom”. According to the American researcher Howard Blum , the winner of one of the competitions, Petar Brzitsa, killed 1300 Serbs per night [6] (according to other sources - 1360 [7] ).
