History

On April 1, 1943, the Kirov Radio Transceiver Center was established as part of the Kirov Office of the USSR People’s Commissariat of Communications [1] . The main purpose of the radio center was to counter foreign radio stations on the air, to provide trunk and intraregional radio communications.

A television broadcasting network in the Kirov region began to develop in June 1958, when a television center and a tower 180 meters high were built in Kirov. They allowed broadcasting a local television program in a radius of 70–80 km.

In 1958, the constructed Kirov television center became a part of the Kirov Regional Radio Center as a unit [2] . A new direction has appeared in the enterprise’s activities - the development and operation of broadcasting networks of the Kirov region.

In the next decade, to expand the coverage area of reliable reception of programs, the Kirov Telecentre built a series of low-power television transponders that broadcast a telecentre signal within a radius of 15–20 km.

In 1967, the main relay station Big Kez - Vologda was put into operation. She allowed to submit to the Kirov television center the program of the Central Television (CT) from Moscow [3] . In 1968, the second central heating program was submitted to Kirov on this RRL.

In 1969, by order of the USSR Ministry of Communications and the chairman of the Committee on Radio and Television under the Council of Ministers of the USSR, the Kirov Television Center was transferred to the Committee on Radio and Television under the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

In the period from 1970 to 1980, the construction of powerful single-program RTPS was carried out in the Kirov region in a number of municipal centers of the region, which broadcast the First Central Television Program and two radio programs. In subsequent years, powerful transmitters were installed on them for broadcasting the Second Program of the Central Television along with the block of programs of the Kirov television.

In 1972, the Kirov Radio Center was abolished. On its basis, the Kirov Regional Radio and Television Broadcasting Station (ORPS) was organized, which was later renamed the Kirov Regional Radio and Television Broadcasting Center (ORPC) [4] .

In 1988, by order of the Ministry of Communications of the RSFSR No. 22-s dated 12/28/1988, the radio resistance service RU-2 was liquidated, thereby terminating one of the activities of the ORPC.

In 1993, the Kirov Radio and Television Center was separated from the state-owned communications and information company Rossvyazinform in the Kirov Region. On its basis, the State Enterprise of Communications “Kirov ORPC” was created.

In 1997, the sixth powerful radio-television transmission station was commissioned in the village of Uni with a support with a height of 250 m.

In 1998, by a Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the State Telecommunications Enterprise “Kirov ORTPC” was reorganized by merging as a branch with the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company ( VGTRK ) federal state unitary enterprise. According to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the Kirov ORTCT affiliate became part of the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS) as a branch.

In 2005, the Government of the Kirov Region approved a regional target program “Development of the television broadcasting network of the Kirov Region for 2005-2008,” which envisaged the deployment of a regional television program using a communication satellite in the distribution network and the installation of 42 television transmitters with power from 100 to 1000 watts with coverage of 75.6% of the population.

The program provided for the deployment of a regional television program using a communication satellite in the distribution network and the installation of 42 television transmitters with power from 100 to 1000 W with coverage of 75.6% of the population at existing or newly built facilities. The Department of Industrial Development of the Kirov Region was identified as the state customer of the Program, and the RTRS represented by the Kirov ORTPTS branch as the general contractor. The Kirov Radio and Television Center, in accordance with the state contract, was determined by the telecom operator on the television network being built. The broadcaster under an agreement with the Government of the region was the TV company TV 43 Region.

In 2009, the branch upgraded equipment on the First Channel, NTV, RIK channels.

Modernization Results:

  • Three new powerful TV transmitters “Polaris TVP-5000” were put into operation in the settlements of Urzhum, Kirs, Pinyug, instead of the “Anchor” tube radio stations and ATRS-5 / 0.5;
  • 29 low-power television transmitters (RCTA, PTV, FTTR, RUTAN, RPTDA) in the MRTS workshop and one low-power transmitter in the RTPS Uni were replaced. As a result, 33 transmitters broadcasting “Channel One” were replaced, of which three transmitters with a power of 5000 W, 24 transmitters with a power of 100 W, six transmitters with a power of 10 W;
  • 100 W transmitter in Podosinovets was replaced for broadcasting the Rossiya channel;

In 2008-2009, five television transmitters were introduced to develop the broadcast network of the Petersburg-5 Channel program.

In 2010, the commissioning of TV-20000 transmitters was completed, replacing the physically and morally obsolete Ilmen-20/2 transmitters in the workshops of the RTPS Urzhum and RTPS Kirs [5] .

To expand the broadcasting network of the Russia-K channel, two Sigma transmitters were put into operation at the MRTS Verkhosunye (power - 10 W, 24 TVK) and Sinegorye (power - 100 W, 25 TVK) facilities.

In December 2010, RTPS Kirov began broadcasting the Russia-2 TV channel on 60 TVKs.
