Strelnikov, Ivan Stepanovich

Ivan Stepanovich Strelnikov (1886 - not earlier than 1935) - Russian pilot, hero of the First World War. Member of the White Movement , Major General (1920).

Biography

Orthodox. From the peasants of the Tambov province. He was educated at the Novocherkassk Real School, where he graduated from five classes.

In 1909 he graduated from the Tiflis Infantry Junker School , from where he was released as second lieutenant in the 1st East Siberian Rifle Regiment . He was promoted to commission on October 15, 1912. In 1913 he graduated from the Aviation Officer School in Sevastopol and received the rank of military pilot.

With the outbreak of World War I, he was a junior officer in the 20th Corps Aviation Unit. Granted by St. George's Arms

 For the fact that on November 8, 1914, when all forms of communication between the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the Commander-in-Chief of the front armies and armies were lost, having received orders to deliver an order of the utmost importance to the Commander-in-Chief at all costs to the army commander, he took off on an airplane under extremely adverse atmospheric conditions and repeatedly fired by the enemy, established an interrupted connection and delivered an order, and when he returned, having traveled about 300 miles, he orientated the situation at the front and the armies. 

He was promoted to headquarters captain on December 31, 1914 " for differences in matters against the enemy ." In 1915 he was appointed head of the 6th corps aviation detachment, remaining on the lists of the 1st Siberian Rifle Regiment. He was promoted to captain on April 18, 1916 " for differences in matters against the enemy ." Awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree

 Because, being the head of the 6th corps aviation detachment, with the rank of staff captain, on January 5, 6 and 22, 1916, repeatedly exposing his life to undeniable danger, under the fire of enemy artillery, under extremely difficult atmospheric conditions, he made it in the highest a degree of valuable aerial photographing of enemy positions on the front of the entire army. 

November 8, 1916 he was appointed commander of the aviation division under the Danube Army . In 1917 he was appointed commander of the 6th Air Division, and on January 18 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with approval in office. Produced by the colonels on October 13, 1917. At the end of 1917 he was appointed chairman of the commission for the transfer of aviation and aeronautical assets purchased abroad from the ports of the North Sea.

In the Civil War he participated in the White movement in the south of Russia . Since May 1918 he served in the Don Army , became one of the founders of Don Aviation. He was the commander of the 1st Air Division. In 1919 he was appointed assistant chief of the Aviation Department for the operational part, in which position he remained until April 26, 1920. He was promoted to major general on March 29, 1920. He was evacuated from Crimea until the fall of 1920.

In exile in Yugoslavia. He died in Sarajevo.
