Serbian-Somali relations

Serbo-Somali relations are bilateral relations between Serbia and Somalia . Diplomatic relations were established between the SFRY and Somalia after gaining the last independence from Italy in the 1960s.

In early 2015, Serbia appointed the first ambassador to Mogadishu after the breakdown of the SFRY and the civil war in Somalia. It was Ivan Zhivkovich, also a former ambassador to Kenya. In February 2015, Zhivkovich presented his credentials to the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud . Both countries announced plans for cooperation in the development and vocational training of Somali youth, as well as agriculture, science and health [1] .
