History
The mosque of Islamic solidarity was built in 1987 with the financial support of the Saudi foundation Fahd bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud [1] . This is the main mosque in the capital of Somalia and the cult building of Somali Muslims [2] .
After the outbreak of the civil war in the early 90s of the XX century, the mosque was closed. In 2006, it was reopened by the Islamic Courts Union, which began to raise funds from Somali businessmen to repair parts of the building. In 2012-2013, the mosque was restored by the Somali contractor Stars, with the financial support of the Turkish non-governmental non-profit organization Turkiye Diyanet Foundation. In 2015, the federal government of Somalia completed the reconstruction of the mosque’s infrastructure [2] .
