Career
Club career
A graduate of the , Steve Horvath began his career at the club, created by a group of Croatian immigrants. He played for a number of Australian teams; in the “ ” in the 1994/1995 season he became the champion of Australia, the owner of the national Cup and received the , which is awarded to the best player in the final match of the national championship. In 1998, he was invited to the English Crystal Palace , however, without having played a single official game for him, he returned to his homeland [1] . In March 2003, at the age of 32, he finished his professional career as a football player [2] .
Team Career
Steve Horvath regularly called up for the Australian national team , for which from 1994 to 2002 he had 32 matches. In its composition, Horvath twice (in 1997 and 2001 ) became the winner of the Confederations Cup , the winner (in 2000 ) and the silver winner (in 2002 ) of the OFK Cup of Nations . He also took part in a game in which the Australian national team beat the American Samoa team with a score of 31: 0, thus setting a world record for the largest victory in an international football match [3] .
