History
The modern village of Kikka was made up of two parts: no later than the mid-19th century, the emerged rental farms , referred to in the church book as a village, and the cattle-breeding manor Kikka ( Est. Kikka , German Katharinenhof ), which was owned by the knight's manor Verior [5] .
On the manor maps of 1897-1900, the Katarinenhof manor and the Kicka Wald forest are mentioned. The name of the village was not presented on the manor maps [5] .
In 1977, the village of Kikka united the village of Ilumetsa [5] .
The origin of the toponym
Since the names of the three rental farms (Ilvesse forestry, Saksasaarõ and Pari farms) do not contain the word “Kikka”, the name of the forest can be considered the basis of the village name. Kikas ( Est. Kikas ~ Kikka - “Rooster”) was a common additional peasant name in Estonia [5] .
