Gorny, Platon Gorgonievich

Platon Gorgonievich Gorny was born in the family of a priest . After graduating from the Yekaterinburg Theological School, he entered the Perm Theological Seminary , which he graduated in 1881 in the second category. After Platon Gorgonievich married, he was ordained a priest and assigned to serve in the Simeonovsky church of the village of Medvedevskoye in the Verkhotursky district .

In 1885, the priest Platon Gorny was transferred to the Nikolaev temple of the village of Osintsevskoye, Irbitsky district . Here he served for almost 7 years. In 1892, he was transferred to the John the Baptist Church in the village of Timinskoye, Yekaterinburg Uyezd , and then, in April 1894, he was sent to the village of Pokrovskoye in the Irbitsky Uyezd , in the Intercession Church of which he served until his martyrdom. In addition to the village of Pokrovskoye, the priest Platon Gorny from time to time went to serve in the village of Bolshe-Trifonovskoye, where for a long time there were no clergy.

In addition to pastoral duties, Priest Plato carried the obedience of a missionary and law teacher. There were two parish schools in the parish: one in the village of Pokrovskoye, and the second in the village of Bolshe-Trifonovskaya . In the school of the village of Pokrovskoye, Father Plato taught the Law of God.

On July 27 / August 9, 1918 the Red Army attacked the village of Pokrovskoye. About 100 houses were burned, Pokrovsky temple was looted. Priest Plato was shot. He was buried on July 29 / August 11 at the parish cemetery ^[1] .

In July 2002, the priest Plato Gorny was glorified in the Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia from the Yekaterinburg diocese. Memorial Day July 27 / August 9 ^[2] .

For his service he was repeatedly awarded ^[3] :

• October 1908 - Order of St. Anne of the 3rd degree by the decision of the Spiritual Consistory by the Holy Synod "for impeccable 25-year work on public education."
