History
The band was founded in September 1999 under the name Tanagra Noise and included Mihnea Blidariu (vocals, trumpet, rhythm guitar), Nick Făgădar (vocals, rhythm guitar), Sorin Moraru (bass guitar), Răzvan Ristea (drums) and Șerban-Onțanu Crăciun (solo guitar). In 2000, the group took its current name, borrowing it from the film of the same name by Roman Polanski , which in turn was filmed from the same novel by Pascal Bruckner . In their work, musicians combine progressive metal and alternative rock . Luna Amară is the first group in Romania , which began to use the pipe as one of the tools [1] .
Members of the group are trying to promote the idea of modern European society in Romania, so their texts often carry political statements [2] . Also, the team is actively involved in environmental projects, such as “Save Vama Veche” (protection of endangered seahorses ), “Save Roşia Montană” (protection of wildlife and natural surroundings in mountainous areas from cyanide contamination) and in projects social awareness, such as “Vote for them”, created in order to convince young people of the need to vote.
Currently Luna Amară is one of the most successful groups in Romania [3] . They were the best-selling team in the national network of music stores (Hollywood Music & Film) from July to September 2004. Their singles are Folclor , Gri Dorian, Roşu aprins and Ego nr. 4 hit the top of the charts of local radio stations across the country.
In January 2006, the musicians released the album Loc Lipsă, having performed a forty-day tour, performing in clubs and open air venues throughout Romania, as well as in the Netherlands , Germany , Bulgaria and Turkey . For the second time in a row, the band was invited to perform at the Sighet Festival in Budapest , Hungary .
After two well-distributed albums, in 2009 the band recorded the third, Don't accentuated the acoustic side of the sound. The album contains 9 songs in English and 3 in Romanian. The album was positively noted in magazines such as Dilema Veche [4] , and the single "Chihlimbar" remained number one in several local charts for four weeks in June and July 2009 [5] .
