Located in the city of Samara , founded in 1851. The historic theater building, built in 1888, is an object of cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia of federal importance and is protected by the state [1] .
History
Samara Drama Theater dates back to 1851 , when Samara was given the status of a provincial city. Then the first professional troupe appeared in Samara - enterprise E. Strelkova. She performed in the specially adapted house of the merchant Lebedev. In 1854, Lebedev's mansion burned down.
In 1855 a wooden building appeared at the theater, and in 1888 a new stone building of the theater was built by the project of architect M. N. Chichagov . The building of the theater in the pseudo-Russian style of the townspeople began to be called "teremkom" or "gingerbread house."
The flourishing of the Samara theater in the 19th century is associated with the enterprises of P.M. Medvedev (1860-80s), A. A. Rasskazova in the 1870s, I.K. Nemova, I.P. Novikova (1870- e, 1880s.). Samara performed and so-called. "Mixed" troupe (drama, opera, operetta). Since 1907, performances were held in the theater-circus "Olympus" (now this building is completely rebuilt, but its historical facade has been preserved, it houses the Samara State Philharmonic ).
In 1930 a permanent troupe of the drama theater was established in Samara, which occupied the theater building built in 1888. In the early 1930s, it included actors Yu. V. Tolubeyev , V. V. Merkuryev , A. F. Kistov, V. P. Sharlakhov, V. S. Nelsky , and headed the troupe N. K. Simonov .
In 1936, in the resolution “on perpetuation of the memory of Maxim Gorky ”, the Kuibyshev Regional Drama Theater was given the name of the writer.
In 1955, Peter Lvovich Monastyrsky was invited as a director, in 1959 he was appointed chief director of the theater and worked in that post until 1995 (with a break from 1965 to 1967 - working in Voronezh ).
In 1977, the Kuibyshev Drama Theater received the title of Academic (under the direction of Peter Lvovich Monastyrsky ).
In 1995, the 80-year-old P. L. Monastyrsky resigned. The governor of the Samara region Konstantin Titov from October 13 appointed art director Vyacheslav Gvozdkov to the position of art director.
In 1996, actress Vera Ershova won the Golden Mask national theater award in the nomination “For honor and dignity”. [2]
1998 - The theater takes part in the Avignon Festival .
2007 - at the Ist All-Russian Festival “Volga Theater Seasons” the play “Darling” by A. Chekhov (directed by V. Gvozdkov) received the prize for the best musical arrangement.
2011 - the 160th anniversary of the theater is marked by a special issue of the journal “Theater Life”, dedicated to the Samara Drama Theater. From 17 to 25 June took place on tour SATD them. M. Gorky in Israel with performances of "Six dishes from one chicken" and "Until the third roosters."
