The 31st USSR Championship in Russian drafts among men was held in 1971 in Poti in a circular pattern .

Champions of the country became Viktor Litvinovich . The second place was taken by Vitaly Gabrielyan . Third place was taken by V. Chechikov, who had the same number of points as Gabrielian - his coefficient turned out to be worse.
