Biography
Born I.V. Kazakov May 1, 1937 in the village of Usvyatye Dorogobuzhsky district of the Smolensk region. In 1954 he graduated from Dorogobuzh High School, in 1959 - Michurinsky Fruit and Vegetable Institute. He worked as the manager of the central branch of the Oboyansk fruit-nursery farm in the Kursk region (1959-1961), the chief agronomist of the Shulginsky farm in the Dorogobuzh district of the Smolensk region (1961-1963). From 1963 to 2011, he worked at the Kokinsky stronghold of the All-Russian Institute for Horticulture and Nursery (VSTISP), operating on the basis of the Bryansk State Agricultural Academy (now BGAU) . From 1991 to 2011 - Director of the Kokinsky stronghold of GNU VSTISP Rosselkhozakademii [1] , at the same time - Head of the Department of Horticulture, BSAA (since 1988).

Scientific and pedagogical activity
I.V. Kazakov developed a fundamentally new direction in the domestic selection of raspberries - the creation of varieties of the repairing type that form the main crop of berries on annual shoots in late summer - early autumn. He substantiated and formulated a model of an “ideal” repair grade. Based on interspecific hybridization, the first domestic varieties of the repairing type were created with a yield of 15-18 tons of berries per hectare and fruit weight up to 8-10 g. Varieties Apricot, Augustine, Indian Summer, Indian Summer-2, Diamond, Heracles, Golden Domes, Elegant included to the State Register of selection achievements approved for use. These varieties are highly adaptable to environmental conditions, their cultivation technologies are low cost and environmentally friendly. [2]
Along with the creation of new varieties, active work was carried out on their propagation in a specialized nursery, which is the largest supplier of elite raspberry planting material in Russia.
Selection studies I.V. Kazakov was not limited only to raspberry culture. He performed original work on the study of winter varieties of apple trees, stocks of pears and the creation of utero-seed plantings of this crop in the Bryansk region. The priority area of work of the reference point of gardening, headed by I.V. Kazakov was the creation of environmentally sustainable, highly productive varieties of raspberries, strawberries and black currants, adapted to resource-saving cultivation technologies. I.V. Kazakov provided great scientific and methodological assistance to horticultural farms, introduced new varieties in industrial and amateur gardening, actively participated in regional and republican meetings, and repeatedly participated in international conferences and symposia (in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, India, the USA, and China).
Ivan Vasilyevich created a scientific school for the training of young scientists. Under his leadership, 17 candidates and doctors of agricultural sciences. He is the author of more than 200 publications, including 8 monographs. A number of scientific papers have been published abroad. His scientific and pedagogical activity was awarded the Order of Honor and many medals.
