Platelet glycoprotein Ib, beta chain ( Eng. Glycoprotein Ib ; GP1BB; CD42c) is a membrane protein , a product of the human gene GP1BB [1] .

Functions
Glycoprotein Ib (GP Ib) is a platelet membrane glycoprotein, a heterodimer that consists of 140 kDa alpha chain ( GP1BA ) and 22 kDa beta chain ( GP1BB ) connected by a disulfide bond . The complete complex also includes non-covalently associated glycoprotins IX and V. The complex functions as a von Willebrand factor receptor [1] . Mutations of the GP1BB result in Bernard-Soulier syndrome, Di Georg syndrome, and giant platelet disease.
Interactions
GP1BB interacts with the regulatory protein YWHAZ from the 14-3-3 family [2] [3] [4] .
