Machugovsky, Nikolai Ivanovich

Nikolai Ivanovich Machugovsky ( November 9, 1865 - August 16, 1914 ) - Major General of the Russian Imperial Army . In 1913-1914 he was the chief of staff of the 15th Army Corps . Member of the First World War , died as a result of shelling near the village of Bartoshken.

Biography

Nikolai Ivanovich Machugovsky was born on November 9, 1865. By religion he was Orthodox . In 1884 [2] he graduated from the Oryol Bakhtin Cadet Corps , after which he entered the service of the Russian Imperial Army on September 1, 1884. He received his military education at the 2nd Konstantinovsky Military School , from which he was graduated from the Life Guards Volyn Regiment in 1886 with the rank of second lieutenant with seniority on August 11, 1886. The rank of lieutenant was promoted with seniority on August 11, 1890.

In 1892 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff in the 1st category. He was promoted to headquarters captain of the guard with renaming as captain of the General Staff with seniority from May 6, 1892. Consisted of the Odessa Military District . From November 26, 1892 to March 25, 1896 he served as senior adjutant of the headquarters of the 7th Cavalry Division , while in office, from October 13, 1894 to October 31, 1895, he served the censored command as a company commander in the 40th Infantry Kolyvan regiment . From March 25, 1896 to January 16, 1898 he was a senior adjutant to the headquarters of the 7th Infantry Division . He held the post of head of the Zegrza fortress, from January 16, 1898 to September 30, 1900. The rank of lieutenant colonel was promoted with seniority on April 5, 1898. From September 30, 1900 to March 27, 1904, he served as senior adjutant to the headquarters of the Warsaw Military District , while in office in May-September 1902, he served the censored command as battalion commander in the 1st Warsaw Infantry Regiment. In 1902, "for distinction," he was promoted to colonel with seniority from April 14, 1902. From March 27, 1903 to November 12, 1904 he held the post of chief of staff of the 3rd Guards Infantry Division , then until July 9, 1910 he commanded the 8th Estland Infantry Regiment . In 1908, he was promoted to major general with seniority on March 9, 1908. July 9, 1910 to January 28, 1914 was the chief of staff of the 11th Army Corps . January 29, 1914 was appointed chief of staff of the 15th Army Corps [3] . He was in this position until his death.

He participated in the First World War , in August 1914 he took part in the East Prussian operation . On August 15, it was discovered that the central corps of the 2nd Army , including the 15th Army Corps, were surrounded by the Prussian army. On the orders of the commander of the 2nd Army , cavalry general Alexander Samsonov, the headquarters of the 15th Army Corps was supposed to organize the defense of Neidenburg , but by that time the Prussian army had already captured the city. Major General Machugovsky died on August 16, 1914 during the shelling of the corps. November 14 of the same year was removed from the list.

As of 1911, was married and had four children [2] .
