David Latasa Lasa ( Spanish: David Latasa Lasa ; born February 14, 1974 , Pamplona ) is a Spanish road racing cyclist who performed at a professional level between 1998-2006. A participant in the Tour de France , Giro d'Italia and Vuelta Spain super-flyers, winner and winner of various less prestigious highway races.

Biography

David Latasa was born February 14, 1974 in the city of Pamplona Autonomous Community of Navarra , Spain .

First declared itself in 1997, having won the Circuit de Pascuas and Santikutz Klasika races.

He made his professional debut in 1998 as part of one of the strongest Spanish teams Banesto .

In 1999, he marked a victory at one of the stages of the Tour de l'Avenir multi-day race, while in the general classification he took second place, losing only to compatriot Unai Osa .

In 2001, for the first and only time, he took part in the Giro d'Italia super-race, taking 35th place in the overall standings. A year later, the Tour de France drove for the first time.

For the 2003 season he moved to Kelme-Costa Blanca , as part of this team he participated in the Tour de France and made his debut at the Vuelta of Spain , where he took 46th place in the general classification. In addition, he finished third at the Catalan Week , leaving behind only the Italian Dario Frigo and compatriot Husep Joufre .

In the period 2004-2006 he represented Comunidad Valenciana . At that time, he twice participated in the “Vuelta of Spain”, took fourth place in the general classification of “ Vuelta of Catalonia ”, achieved the title of the best mountain racer of the “ Basque Country Tour ”, twice became the third in the one-day race Prueba Villafranca de Ordizia.

Latasa ended his sports career in 2006 after Puerto found out that he was involved in the doping system of the infamous Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes . For all that, the investigation failed to reliably convict him of the use of prohibited substances [1] .
