Biography

Sayuri began to compose music while studying in the second grade of high school, and she set herself the example of the work of the collective Kanjani 8 [1] [2] . In 2012, she won the Grand Prix at the end of the fifth Music Revolution contest sponsored by the Yamaha Music Foundation [3] . The following year, she moved to Tokyo [2] .

In 2015, Sayuri made her professional debut by releasing on August 25 her first single “Mikazuki” ( я カ ヅ キ Mikazuki , “The Crescent”) , which served as the closing track for the anime series Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace [4] . On February 24, 2016, her third single, “Sore wa Chiisana Hikari no Youna” ( Japanese そ れ は 小 さ な 光 の よ う な Sora wa Ti: sana Hikari no Yo: na , “It's Like a Little Light”) was released , which became the final theme of the Boku anime dake ga Inai Machi . The author of the song was Yuki Kajiura [5] . On December 7 of that year, her fourth single, “Furaregai Girl” ( フ я レ ガ イ ガ ー ル Furaregai Ga: ru , “The Girl Who Should Be Rejected”) , recorded with the participation of Yojiro Noda , was released from the RADWIMPS group. Noda commented on the recording with the words: “Before that, I had already written the music and lyrics of the song, but I knew that I could not perform it. For a while I was looking for the true owner of this song. Then I accidentally ended up in a recording studio next to Sayuri. I listened to her CD, and at that moment something that was just a hazy outline of the song became crystal clear. It was a song that she was supposed to sing. ” [6]

The fifth single of the singer “Heikousen” ( Japanese 平行 線 Heiko: sen , “Parallel Line”) , released on March 1, 2017, was used as a cover song for the anime Kuzu no Honkai [7] . On May 17 of that year, her first album, Mikazuki no Koukai , was released. He took 1st place in the daily [8] and 3rd in the Oricon weekly charts, thus marking a new milestone in her career [9] . Sayuri's next single, “Tsuki to Hanataba” ( я と 花束 Tsuki no Hanataba , “Moon and Bouquet”) was released on February 28, 2018 and became the final theme of the anime Fate / Extra Last Encore [10] .
