Description

Small earth ants; working length 3-4 mm. It differs from closely related species ( Tetramorium weitzeckeri ) by large triangular spines of the propodeum, the presence of spaced hairs on the first tergite of the abdomen, two-colored coloration (brownish-black abdomen and stalk, and light brown chest and head). The length of the workers' head (HL) is 0.62–0.66 mm, the width of the head (HW) is 0.57–0.67 mm. The main body color is brown. Antennae of workers and females 11-segmented. Petiol scale-like in profile with a high nodule (about 3 times the length, transverse and elliptical at the top). Antennah grooves well developed, long. The lateral parts of the clypeus are keel-shaped raised near the place of attachment of antennae. The mandibles are wide triangular with a dentate chewing edge. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and the postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, the pupae are bare (without cocoon ). Posterior loin with 2 sharp propodeal spines. The belly is smooth and shiny. Nest in the ground [2] [1] [3] .

Taxonomy

Included in the species group Tetramorium weitzeckeri . The species was first described in 2010 by American mirmecologists Francisco Hita Garcia , Brian Fisher ( Brian L. Fisher ; Entomology, California Academy of Sciences , San Francisco , California , USA ) and M. Peters ( Bonn , Germany ) [1] [3] .
