Christian Golomeev ( Bulgarian. Christian Tsvetanov Golomeev , born July 4, 1993 ) - Greek swimmer of Bulgarian origin, silver medalist of the World Championship 2019, silver medalist of the European Championship 2018, three-time champion of the Mediterranean Games 2018 . Participant of the Olympic Games 2012 and 2016. The record holder of Greece at 50 and 100 meters freestyle and 50 meters butterfly stroke in both 50-meter and 25-meter pools.

Biography

Born in 1993 in Velingrad in a Bulgarian family. Mother Christina died shortly after his birth. Christian's father, Tsvetan (1961–2010) - a former swimmer, a participant in the Olympic Games of 1980 and 1988, emigrated to Greece for a better life. In Greece, Christian began to swim at an early age. Christian has two brothers, Nikola and Ivan.

Career

At the 2011 World Junior Championships, won a bronze medal in the 50 meters freestyle with a score of 22.80. At the European Championship in 2011 among juniors in Belgrade became the second freestyle 50 meters.

In 2012, at the London Olympics, he took 31st place in the 100-meter freestyle with a score of 50.08.

At the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, he finished seventh in the 50-meter freestyle with a score of 21.98 seconds.

In 2016, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Christian took the 13th place in the 50-meter freestyle race, and also the 20th place in the 100-meter freestyle race, setting a national record of 48.68 seconds. He also performed as part of the Greek national team in the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay (10th place) and the combined relay 4 × 100 meter (15th place).

At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, he took the seventh place in the 50 meters freestyle race with a score of 21.73 seconds.

At the European Swimming Championships in 2018 in Glasgow, he won a silver medal in the 50 meters freestyle with a record of Greece 21.44 seconds, losing to the champion Ben Proud 0.10 seconds. As part of the Greek relay 4 × 100 meters freestyle took fifth place in the final, showing the third result in the last stage.

At the 2019 World Cup in Gwangju, he won silver in the 50-meter freestyle, losing only to American Caleb Dressel.
