Biography
Born in the family of Boris Scherbakov and Inna Chernetskaya [1] (1894 - 1963), dancer, choreographer, dance theorist, founder of the “synthetic” direction in dance. Graduated in 1939 from the directing department of GITIS . Pupil F.N. Kaverin and V.G. Sakhnovsky .
In 1939-1942 - the main director of the theater of the Far Eastern Military District . In 1943 he worked at the Moscow Front Drama Theater of GITIS , the author of the composition "Lenin" (based on the play "The Man with a Gun "), in which he played the role of V. I. Lenin . He was first allowed to play the role of leader on the stage.
During the Great Patriotic War - an artist of the front-line brigade . In 1943-1947 he worked at the Moscow Art Theater .
In 1944 he began teaching work.
In 1947-1949, he was the main director of the Russian Drama Theater in Vilnius .
In 1958-1962 - the main director of the Belarusian Theater. J. Kolas , in the years 1962-1964 - Belarusian Theater. I. Kupala .
Since 1968 - the main director of the Gorky Drama Theater ( Arzamas-16 , now the Sarov Drama Theater ).
In the 1980s moved to Moscow, in the future, to take the post of chief director of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya instead of A. Efros . He later taught at the Institute of Culture.
Buried in Tarusa .
