Champion of Cuba 1958 and 1966 Silver medalist of the Cuban championship in 1969
Participant in several major international competitions: several memorials of H. R. Capablanca , the memorial of M. I. Chigorin , the Memorial of Em. Lasker, two memorials of A.K. Rubinstein , the open championship of the USA , etc. In 1967, he represented Cuba in the zonal tournament of the contender cycle of 1967-1968.
As part of the Cuban team, a participant in five chess Olympiads (1952, 1962, 1964, 1966 and 1968).
