Born in 1957 in Lyon . In 1976 he took part in the Olympic Games in Montreal , but did not win any awards. In 1978 he became the silver medalist of the world championship. In 1979 he became the world champion. In 1980 he won the gold and bronze medals of the Olympic Games in Moscow . At the 1982 World Championships, he won gold and silver medals.
