Borshchevsky distillery ( Ukrainian. Borshchivsky distillery ) is a food industry enterprise in the city of Borshchev, Borshchevsky district, Ternopil region .

History

The company arose in 1907 as a private distillery.

After the outbreak of World War I, Borshchev found himself in a combat zone and the enterprise ceased to function [1] .

In 1940, the distillery was restored and resumed operation as a state-owned enterprise [1] .

During the Great Patriotic War, the plant was damaged during the hostilities and German occupation of the city (July 7, 1941 - April 6, 1944) , but was already restored at the end of 1944 [1] .

In Soviet times, the distillery was one of the largest enterprises in the city [1] [2] [3] .

After the independence of Ukraine, the plant was transferred to the state committee of the food industry of Ukraine. In March 1995, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine included the plant in the list of enterprises whose privatization is prohibited due to their national importance [4] .

After the creation in June 1996 of the state concern “Ukrspirt” for the alcohol and distillery industry, the plant was transferred to the concern “Ukrspirt” [5] .

At the beginning of 2004, the plant passed certification for compliance with ISO 9000 standards [6] .

In October 2008, the company was reorganized [7] . The economic crisis that began in 2008 complicated the situation of the plant; in January 2009, it was decided to lay off 129 workers [8] .

In July 2010, the state concern “Ukrspirt” was transformed into the state enterprise “Ukrspirt”, the plant remained under the jurisdiction of the state enterprise “Ukrspirt” [9] .
