Jena Strawberry

Strawberry Yeny is a botanical natural monument in the village of Oreanda in the urban district of Yalta, Crimea . At a height of 1.3 m, the small-fruited strawberry tree has a girth of 4.5 m, near the ground - 7 m, the height of the tree - 10 m. The tree has 10 large branches. The age of the tree is more than 1300 years [2] . The tree grows on Mount Ai-Nikola in the area of ​​the village of Oreanda, 20 m to the right of the Kurchatov hiking trail, going upward, along a small gorge on the southern slope. In 2010, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Ukraine awarded the title Strawberry to the National Tree of Ukraine . Named in honor of the Crimean geographer Professor V. G. Ena , who found and described the tree in 1964 and 1973. The tree is depressed: the ground at the roots is trampled and littered, the strawberry trunks are covered with tourist initials. This is probably the oldest strawberry in the Crimea. Received the status of a botanical natural monument in 2011 at the initiative of the Kiev Ecological and Cultural Center .
