Functions

Neuropilin 2 is a membrane receptor for the neuropilin family. It binds to semaphorins SEMA3C and SEMA3F and to vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ). Protein plays a role in the development of the cardiovascular system, directed axon growth and tumorigenesis [3] .

Structure

Neuropilin 2 consists of 911 amino acids , contains 4 glycosylation sites, 6 disulfide bonds. Alternative splicing generates 6 isoforms. The extracellular domain contains 2 CUB domains and F5 / 8 C-type domains. CUB domains are involved in the binding of semaphorins, F5 / 8 C-type domains are responsible for the binding of heparin and VEGF.

Interactions

Neuropilin 2 binds to semaphorins 3C, 3F, VEGF-A isoforms of VEGF- 165 and VEGF-145, and isoform of placental growth factor ( PGF ) PLGF-2.
