Acceptance
The coat of arms was adopted in 1961 by a unicameral representative body - the Council of New Guinea .
Design
The “Morning Star” flag is depicted on the shield. The shield is supported by two birds of paradise and surrounded by a garland of local flowers, below the shield there is a ribbon on which is written the Indonesian motto “Setia, djudjur, Mesra” [2] .
