Biography
Father, senior political instructor A. Yakovlev, participated in the Great Patriotic War and died in 1942 on the Volkhov Front . Valentin himself was born in evacuation (before the war the family lived in the territory of the modern Pskov region ). In 1947, her mother also died (the consequences of a German bombardment during the evacuation). He was brought up in an orphanage , then his relatives took him from there. After leaving school in 1959 he graduated from courses and worked as a truck driver.
In military service since 1961. In 1965 he graduated from the Leningrad Higher Combined Arms Command School named after S.M. Kirov . After graduation, he was assigned to the Marine Corps and in 1965 was sent to serve in the Baltic Fleet , served as commander of a marine platoon in the 336th Separate Guards Marine Regiment . Since 1966 he served in the 810th separate regiment of the Marine Corps of the Black Sea Fleet , commanded a platoon and company of the Marine Corps. In 1966, Lieutenant V.A. Yakolev, as part of a marine corps company, took part in the first-ever combat service of the USSR Marine Corps on the Slava cruiser in the Mediterranean Sea (later such services were carried out more than once). In 1969 he was sent to study.
In 1972 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . From 1972 he continued his service in the 810th separate regiment of the Marine Corps of the Black Sea Fleet: chief of staff, from June 1974 to June 1978 - regiment commander. At the height of the Arab-Israeli war of 1973, at the head of the regiment was aboard the ships of the Soviet Mediterranean squadron off the coast of Egypt and Israel . Since 1978 - chief of staff and commander of the 126th motorized infantry division of the Odessa Military District . From 1980 to 1982, he again served in the Marine Corps, being the commander of the 55th Pacific Fleet Marine Division .
In 1984 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR named after K.E. Voroshilov . Since 1984 - the commander of the army corps of the Odessa Military District . Since 1987, he has been a military adviser to the commander of the special Primorsky Military Region in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam . Since 1988, he was the head of the department at the Main Directorate of Personnel of the USSR Ministry of Defense , and since 1991, he was the First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Personnel of the USSR Ministry of Defense (since 1992 - the Russian Federation). In 1996, he was seconded to state bodies with the retention of the Armed Forces: military inspector of the State Military Inspectorate of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation . In 1998, he left his post and was transferred to the reserve from military service on a personal report due to disagreement with measures taken by the troops that adversely affected the combat readiness of the troops.
V.A. Yakovlev repeatedly performed the tasks of performing military service in the Mediterranean Sea and fulfilled the international duty “in hot spots” of the world: Afghanistan , Vietnam , Egypt .
After the discharge to the reserve, he was actively engaged in public and veteran work. Back in 1995, with his active participation, the public organization “Marines Club” was created. Then this association was expanded by the veteran of the Marine Corps and combatants: in 1997 V. Yakovlev was elected President of the Moscow Public Organization of the Marines “Saturn”, in 2001 - the President of the Interregional Public Organization of the Marines “Typhoon”, in 2006 - the President All-Russian public organization of the Marines "Typhoon". At the same time since November 2016, he has been a member of the Council of the All-Russian Public Organization of Veterans of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
