Atto was a native of Bavaria and belonged to the noble local family of Huosi . Even in his youth, becoming a monk, he showed himself in this field as an outstanding person. In this position, Atto in 769 also became rector of yet another abbey - , into whose submission the brethren of the Sharnitsky monastery were transferred. Under Atto, the administrative and church subordination of the Freising diocese was changed, which in 798 passed from the suffragan of the Mainz archdiocese into the newly formed Metropolis of Salzburg [1] .
