Biography

Born in the family of a priest about. Jan Novak and his wife Maria from the house of Bolognov. He studied at the Uzhgorod gymnasium. He studied theology at Esztergom and the University of Vienna (1902-1906) [1] , where in 1906 he received a doctorate in theology.

On January 9, 1905, he was ordained a priest from the hands of Mukachevo Bishop Julius Firtsak in the Uzhgorod Cathedral.

On November 20, 1913 he was appointed bishop of the Pryashevsky Greek Catholic diocese. The Episcopal consecration took place on January 11, 1914. The main hierarch was Bishop Antal Papp of Mukachevo. Bishop Stefan Novak promoted Magyarization in the field of school affairs and the language of church rites. In 1918 he abdicated the bishopric and fled to Hungary, where he died on September 5, 1932.
