Tannasar or Thanesar is a sacred ancient Indian city and capital. His name in Sanskrit sounded Sthanesvara - "Lord of the place." The ruins are in Punjab , near Umballa , and from time immemorial serve the Indians as a pilgrimage destination. The temple was destroyed and plundered by Mahmoud Ghaznevi in 1011. In the ruins on a sandstone plate there is a Sanskrit inscription dated 279 of the Samvat era, probably dating back to the Vallabha era (beginning of the 4th century). She lists the kings who ruled in the capital. For this era, this inscription, although incomplete and poorly preserved, is a very valuable monument.
