Then, since 1968, Cornelius Ndzhoba actively involved in the tribal policy of ovambo. He was a deputy of the legislative council of Ovamboland , he headed the local administration of the Kwangyama district . In 1975 he replaced the murdered Philemon Eliphas as chief minister of Ovamboland [1] .
Anti-Communist politician
Cornelius Ndzhoba was a staunch right - wing anti - communist , a determined opponent of the SWAPO Marxist movement. A supporter of the independence of Namibia, he considered the military confrontation of SWAPO the main task and advocated cooperation with South Africa . In 1974, Njoba founded and led the National Democratic Party (NDP), a political organization of conservative-minded ovambo [2] .
Cornelius Njoba was seen as a strong opponent of Sam Nuyoma - because he relied on black peasant proprietors who reject plans to nationalize the land. It is characteristic that in 1973, SWAPO was able to organize a boycott of local elections in Ovamboland: less than 3% of voters participated in the vote - and in 1975, when the local government headed Ndzhoba, 55% came to polling stations [3] .
In 1975, Cornelius Njoba took part in a constitutional conference organized by the occupation authorities of South Africa and the loyal political organizations of South Africa. He became one of the founders of the right-wing conservative coalition of the Turnhalle Democratic Alliance (DTA). Led by Njoba, the NDP was one of the largest DTA structures, along with Clement Kapuuo's NUDO and the Dirk Maja Republican Party [2] .
Following the assassination of Clemens Capuuo in March 1978, Cornelius Njoba took over as president of the DTA. In 1980, he ceded leadership to the alliance to Peter Kalangula . At the same time, he remained the leading activist of DTA. He died in 1983 as a result of an explosion allegedly carried out by SWAPO militants [1] .
