Biography
In 1852 he began serving in the 13th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army . In 1854 he became a lieutenant, in 1861 he became lieutenant. In 1865 he was promoted to captain with the appointment of adjutant to the Minister of War A. von Roon .
A participant in the Austro-Prussian-Italian War of 1866 (at the headquarters of the Minister of War) and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871, which he began as Major General of the General Staff, then participated in the battles of Saint-Priv - Gravelot Beaumont , Beaumont , Sedan and the siege of Paris .
After the war, he returned to the military department as a division commander, became a teacher of military history at the Military Academy.

The author of scientific and military works on which the highest military leaders of the future world war studied, characterized by a deep approach to the political, economic, social, technical, mental and spiritual foundations of war. He especially emphasized the importance of quality rest for national forces in the conditions of modern war with the simultaneous development of moral and intellectual abilities of all those who participate in it.
