Anglefort Hydroelectric Power Station is a hydroelectric power station in the southeast of France . It is part of the cascade on the Rhone River, located between the Seisel hydroelectric power station (upstream) and the Bran-Virinen hydroelectric power station .

During the construction of the station, which took place in 1979-1980, the left channel of the Rhone was blocked by a 106-meter-long concrete dam consisting of five culverts. The dam creates backwater for 5.6 km to the Seisel hydroelectric station located above, and also directs the main part of the water to the right channel, on which the machine room is built (on the left side of the dam there is also a backup channel for water passage). The length of the underwater part of the canal is 5.3 km, after which a 3.3 km long branch section joins the left channel. [1] [2]
The machine room, located in the municipality of Anglefort , is equipped with two bucket turbines with a total capacity of 90 MW, which, with a pressure of 17 meters, produce 450 million kWh of electricity per year. [3]
The station is controlled from a dispatch center located at the Genisya hydroelectric station . [four]
