Competition Progress

The championship was attended by 4 grandmasters and 12 masters of sports, five of whom played for the first time in the final. In the third round, the leadership was seized last year by the country's champion Arkady Plakhin, but in the fifth round he was caught up by Elshad Mursalov. After winning the 8th round, Mursalov became the sole leader. However, after his defeat in the 9th round, seven became the leader at once - Plakhin, Mursalov, Gagarin, Fedorov, Simonyan, Arustamov and Gabrielyan. The decisive round was the 14th, in which future winners were determined. The last 15th round did not change their position in the standings. According to the Regulation on the championship, Mursalov and Simonyan, who scored 10 points each, were declared champions. Having scored 9 points each, Arustamov, Gagarin, Fedorov and Gabrielyan were ranked according to the coefficient table. It is funny that Gabrielyan received another prize as a millionth visitor to the local cinema "Simferopol".
