Biography
Renata Carneiro was born on May 21, 1989 in Brasilia . He was fond of martial arts since childhood, practiced Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Thai boxing , having achieved black belts in both of these disciplines [1] [2] .
Jungle Fight
He started his fighting career in the prestigious Brazilian Jungle Fight promotion, where he won eight victories in total, without suffering a single defeat. He won by unanimous decision of a fairly strong compatriot Iliardi Santos , won the title of interim champion in the semi-lightweight category. Also spent one duel in Shooto Brazil, where a draw was fixed by the decision of the majority of judges [3] .
Ultimate Fighting Championship
In December 2014, it became known that Moikan signed a long-term contract with the largest fighting organization of the world Ultimate Fighting Championship [4] . On a short notice (10 days), he had to replace Roni Mariana Bezerr in a battle with Tom Niinimaki - in the second round, he caught his opponent in a choke hold from behind and forced him to surrender [5] .
His next opponent in 2015 was to be Mirsad Bektic , but Moikan was injured and was replaced by Lucas Martins [6] .
By March 2016, he recovered from injury and went into octagon against Russian Zubaira Tuhugov . He was considered an underdog in this confrontation, but managed to win by separate judicial decision [7] .
In 2017, he won by split decision Jeremy Stevens and lost to Brian Ortega with delivery, having fallen into the “ guillotine ” in the third round - with all that, he earned a bonus for the best fight of the evening [8] .
In 2018, was marked by victories over Calvin Cattar and Kab Swanson - thereby entrenched in the top ten of the strongest fighters of the UFC lightweight [9] [10] .
