Scene
“Flaming” is a rather free screen version of Haruka Murakami’s short story Burn the Barn. [3] The film tells about the budding writer Jeonsu, a lover of creativity William Faulkner [4] who falls in love with a girl from his village Haemi, accidentally meeting her in a big city. When his lover returns from a trip to Africa, it turns out that there she met Ben, a young man leading a luxurious lifestyle.
Jungsu, meanwhile, is keeping an eye on his father’s house, who is being tried for assaulting a neighbor. One day, Ben and Haemi come to visit Jungsu in the village and Ben confesses to his criminal hobby: he burns greenhouses about once every two months. Then Haemi suddenly disappears. Jungsu cannot contact her and realizes that Ben seems to be killing young girls. Unable to prove that the crime took place, Jeongsu himself kills Ben.
