DescriptionThe total length reaches 55-60 cm. Sexual dimorphism is observed - males are larger than females. The scales along the ridge are very elongated, flattened and fused with the bases, so that the dorsal crest resembles a sail. The occipital crest is high and separated from the dorsal. The infraorbital ridges are poorly developed, without characteristic outgrowths.
The color is brown or dark olive. When excited, it becomes bright green; in males, the belly and throat sac are blue with red spots.
LifestylePrefers primary rainforests . Usually found on the branches of trees and shrubs along rivers and streams. Active during the day. The most aggressive of all gonocephalus to relatives and does not withstand the presence of individuals of its gender. It feeds on arthropods .
ReproductionThis is an egg-laying lizard. The female lays 2 to 6 eggs.
DistributionIt lives in southern Thailand , on the Malacca Peninsula , on the islands of Kalimantan , Sumatra , and a number of small adjacent islands.
