He played for the US boxing team in the late 2000s - early 2010s, participant in the Summer Olympic Games in London (2012), winner of the Golden Gloves tournament (2011), three-time US champion (2007, 2009, 2012) in lovers.
Among the professionals, the champion is IBO Inter-Continental (2018 -present ), WBA International (2018 -present ), heavyweight champion. Former contender for the WBO world title in 2017 in the 1st heavyweight division.

Biography
Born July 10, 1988 in the Van Nies area , Los Angeles . His father Michael Hunter Sr. was a fairly well-known professional boxer, so the boy was in this sport from early childhood. He was trained under the guidance of trainer Kenny Krumms.
Amateur career
He first made his name in 2006 when he became a finalist of the Golden Gloves national tournament and won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Morocco, where he was stopped by Romanian Christian Ciocan at the semifinal stage.
In 2007, he won the United States Amateur Championship in Las Vegas, defeating all rivals in the heavyweight division. He took part in the World Cup in Chicago , but could not get here among the winners - in the quarterfinal, with a score of 15:22, he lost to Russian Islam Timurziev . He tried to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , but failed at two qualifying tournaments. In 2009, he was again the best in the standings of the American national heavyweight championship, while at the world championship in Milan already in the 1/16 finals with a score of 1: 8 he lost to the titled Italian Roberto Cammarella [1] .
Since 2011, Hunter has performed in the first heavyweight division, won national Golden Gloves in this division, and again became the United States amateur champion. Successfully overcame the qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games in London , however, in his first duel at the Olympics, he was defeated by Russian boxer Arthur Beterbiev . At this time, among other things, as a sparring partner, he participated in the preparation of Wladimir Klitschko before the champion fights with Eddie Chambers and David Haye [2] .
Professional career
Shortly after the end of the London Olympics, Michael Hunter decided to switch to professionals and in March 2013 he successfully made his debut at a professional level in the 1st heavy weight (up to 90.89 kg). Over the course of three years, he won 11 victories, without having suffered a single defeat, and in May 2016 he won a duel against the unbeaten compatriot Aizey Thomas (15-0) and thereby won the title of champion of the North American Boxing Organization in the first heavyweight.
In April 2017, he entered the ring against the current world champion according to the WBO in the 1st heavyweight champion of Ukraine Alexander Usyk (11-0) . The confrontation between them lasted all the allotted 12 rounds, as a result, the judges unanimously gave victory to Usik, and Hunter thus suffered the first defeat in his professional career [3] .
Unable to get the world title in the 1st heavyweight, Hunter switched to heavyweight (over 90.89 kg) and continued to regularly enter the ring. In 2018, he won four fights, including by knocking out quite a well-known and experienced Georgian boxer Iago Kiladze (26-2) [4] , and having won the vacant IBO Inter-Continental heavyweight champion title in a difficult fight by beating by TKO at 10 -th round of the unbeaten promising [5] boxer from DR Congo Martin Bacole Ilung (11-0) [6] .
On November 24, 2018, he won the vacant WBA International heavyweight champion title by beating by knockout in the 9th round of the former world challenger, massive Russian Alexander Ustinov (34-2) [7] . After this fight, Hunter entered the top 25 (according to various world rankings) of the best heavyweights on the planet and again became a real contender for the world title [8] .
