Biography

Born January 12, 1962 in Moscow. He graduated from English special school №30 . For some time he worked as a molder at a Moscow factory [1] . He graduated from the State College of Circus and Variety Arts (1983, variety department), GITIS [2] (1987, acting variety department). At the school, teachers of Sergey Minaev were Ilya Grigorievich Rutberg ( pantomime ), Alexey Andreevich Bystrov ( step ), at the institute - Sergey Mikhailovich Dityatev (actor’s skill, specialization), the course leader was People's Artist of the USSR I. G. Sharoev.

Musical career

He graduated from music school in the violin class. In the second year of school, he became the vocalist of the Moscow group "City". The collective rehearsed in the basement of the House of Culture “Red Proletarian” (in the same place where the Resurrection group once rehearsed) and at that time was purely instrumental; subsequently Minaev began to perform his own songs on the verses of Sergei Mirov [1] . The team's sources of inspiration were very diverse - Earth, Wind & Fire , Stevie Wonder , Queen , Boney M , The Police , Resurrection, Time Machine . Group "City" took part in the rock festival MIPT in Dolgoprudny in 1981 and starred in the episode of the film " I can not say goodbye " [3] . The author of music and the performer of the hymn of the submariners of the USSR Podvodrechstroy [3] [4] .

Since 1979, Minaev began to try his hand at playing the role of a disco-jockey, conducting discos at the Moscow Aviation Institute , from 1983 at the Molodezhnaya Hotel [5] , and from 1985 at the Intourist [6] and Spartak [2] hotels. At the same time, “company” backing tracks were widely used; Sergey did not translate texts directly, considering them of little interest [1] . In 1984, he acted as a jockey at the MPEI student camp near Alushta , where he met his predecessor, Sergei Lisovsky . Subsequently, Lisovsky became the concert director of Minaev [2] [6] and, together with Yuri Chernavsky, founded the Record studio , in which Minaev worked [1] .

The video clip for one of Minaev’s most popular songs, “Carnival” (filmed in 1985 for the TV show “Funny Guys”), was the pinnacle of the ingenuity of the Soviet television studio — the primary video signal went through 15 stages of processing. And in order for a song with such a "bourgeois" name to be broadcast, several ideological slogans were launched before the broadcast [7] . The song " Yura - Vumen, Vasya - Man " (remake of the hit band Bad Boys Blue ) was put on the "black list" of the USSR Ministry of Culture [1] .

At the end of 1986, Record Studio (with the assistance of the head of the culture department of the Moscow City Party Committee S. A. Popov and the head of the Luzhniki Sports Complex V. V. Alyoshin ) held the first disco in the USSR for 10,000 people. The event was a great success, received resonance in the press , was approved by the KGB of the USSR , the Moscow City Party Committee, and after that it was already held in many large cities of the country. For Sergey, it was a debut on the professional stage; a parody of Modern Talking and songs by Yuri Chernavsky ( Margarita , Shaman) were performed. In 1987, Minaev became one of the performers of the song “ Closing the Circle ”.

The most important album in the work of Sergey Minaev was the album Radio Abracadabra (recorded in 1987 at the studio of Muslim Magomayev [8] ). It included foreign dance hits recorded in the non-stop mode and sung with Russian texts composed by the performer himself in an openly parody manner. In the same year (during the period of mass legalization of discos [9] ), Minaev began to actively tour throughout the Soviet Union. In October 1988 he was accused of excessive earnings in the TV show " Perestroika Perestroika ", which in fact turned out to be scandalous, but an advertisement. [10] In 1989, he became the winner of the popular television competition “The Music Ring”. [6]

At the turn of the 1980-1990s, Sergey Minaev largely determined the most fashionable stylistic tendencies in the Soviet-Russian pop scene, primarily in the field of popular dance music, a musical parody. Author and performer of the song “Oh, this Glance!” Recorded for the anniversary of the program “Glance”. In 1990, the company "Melody" released the first long-playing record Minaev Sergey Minaev. In the process of publishing the LP, the author was called to the Arts Council, where senior colleagues and colleagues discussed the possibility of publishing a record. The panel included Mikhail Tanich , who criticized Sergei for unprofessional lyrics [11] [1] .

In the fall of 1991, he recorded for Central Television a Russian version of the introductory song for the animated series Duck Tales .

In 1992, he recorded the vocals of Judas in the Russian version of the rock opera “ Jesus Christ is a superstar ”, delighted with the Russian version of the text. Minaev was “creatively annoyed” by a schematic interpretation of the image of Judas as a traitor: “The mission that was prepared for him will torment thinkers, poets and philosophers for a long time to come. Torment with one and the same question: a traitor or an executor of HIS will? ” [12] Subsequently, he refused to perform the Russian translation of The Beatles songs, as he considered that “ this is already too much ”, all the more so, in his opinion, in the Russian translation “ airy, reckless“ Beatles “songs were somehow“ wiser ”and have plunged ” [12] . Nevertheless, the clip for his song “Bow and Violin” (album Inimitable ) is a shepherd on The Beatles video “ Strawberry Fields Forever ” [13] .

Since 1993, an active participant in the artistic football team of the Star Stars has toured in Hungary (1989), Israel (1994), Ireland (1995), Germany (1992-1995), France (1995-1997), speaking mainly for the Russian-speaking audience. In 1996, he took an active part in the “ Vote or lose ” concert tour in support of President B. Yeltsin , speaking with a series of copyright songs.

In 2006, a collection of Twentieth Century Pirate was released, including new dance versions of Minaev’s most famous songs. In parallel, a DVD of the same name was released with video clips [14] .

March 31, 2013, after a long break in the release of new discs, a concert-presentation by Sergey Minaev “In jazz is only M ...” was held in the capital's Metelitsa club of Sergey Just's new jazz album. The album was released in CD and LP formats, mastering by Doug Sax , cover by Andrei Makarevich [15] [16] [17] .

Minaev’s song lyrics are characterized by the so-called “ banter ” - a parody of the use of standard song and household vocabulary, presented in an openly absurd manner. Some works are frankly satirical in nature - such as, for example, “Mundial” and “Pop Music” [18] . Among the most famous song parodies of Sergey Minaev: “ You are my bread, my salt ” (on Modern Talking ), “ Voyage ” (on Desireless ), “White goats” (on Tender May ), “ Lom-baba ” (on Kaoma ) , “ Minaki-Da ” (on Yaki-Da [19] ), “ Macarena ” (on Los Del Rio ), “ Music Pop ” (on Aqua ) and several others.

Cinema and television

He starred in the films “ I Can't Say Goodbye ” (1982, the episodic role of the singer on the dance floor with his own group “City”), “ Our Man in San Remo ” (1989, the mafioso singer), recorded several songs for the television movie “ Island of the Fallen” ships ”(1987, in the film, these songs are“ performed ”by the hero of Konstantin Raikin ). He took part in the parody television series “The Detective Game” as a singer who performed the song “Brother Louis” (cover version for the song “ Brother Louie ” by Modern Talking ), as well as in the musical “Street” (together with Vladimir Presnyakov- Jr. ), where he played the role of Rocker. [12] He was the host of such television music programs as “ 50x50 ” (1989–1991, 1998–1999), “Ostankino Hit Parade” (1992–1995), “ Morning Post ” (1996–1997), and “Lilac Fog” (1998-1999), Two Pianos (1998-2002, 2004-2005), Karaoke Street (2003-2004) and The Championship of Jokes (2006-2007). Periodically leads festivals "Disco 80s." In 2009, he was the host of the entertainment program “Disco of the 80s according to ours” on STS (from the entertainment cycle “Everything is ours”). Starred in television advertising [20] .

From 2010 to 2012 he led some stories in the program “ I want to know .” From 2011 to 2013 he led some issues of the program “Flask of time” on the channel “ Nostalgia ”.

In 2013, he was the author of the satirical Internet project “The Medium”, in which he presented current events in songs in satirical form. 7 issues came out [21] .
