Yari Kalevi Niemelya ( Fin. Jari Kalevi Niemelä ; born December 26, 1957 , Vaasa , Finland ) - Finnish biologist, professor of biological and environmental sciences; rector of the largest in Finland Helsinki University (2018-2023).

Biography
He graduated from Umeå University and in 1988 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the University of Helsinki [1] .
He is the chairman of the Finnish branch of the World Wildlife Fund .
Since August 1, 2018, he has been elected rector of the University of Helsinki for a five-year term [2] .
