Cephalopod (unmanned submarine)

Cefalopod is a Russian project of an unmanned nuclear submarine designed to destroy enemy submarines . The developer of the underwater drone is Rubin Central Design Bureau . The project cost is 7.9 billion rubles. For the first time about the development of "Cephalopod" became known in 2015 ^[1] .

According to the American magazine Popular Mechanics , the Cefalopod will be armed with small-sized thermal torpedoes capable of destroying the enemy submarine by breaking through its hull. In addition, there are concerns of foreign experts that the size of the Russian unmanned submarines will bypass the US and will have high strength and stealth technology ^{[2] [3]} .
