Mihkel Petrovich Pill (07.01.1884, p. Kuressaare Tarvastu parish - 19.06.1951, Jõgeva) - Soviet and Estonian scientist, breeder of grain crops.

The son of a farmer. He studied at the Kuressaare Parish School (1894–1895), at the Tarvastu School (1895–1898), and at the Tartu Real School (1898–1905). In 1906–1916 (with interruptions) he studied botany at the University of Tartu, but did not receive a diploma.
In 1909, after the death of his father, he inherited his farm.
The initiator of the foundation in 1919 in Estonia are two organizations: the Estonian Variety Improvement Society, which was entrusted with the selection of varieties and breeding, and the Estonian Association of Seed-Growing Seed Breeding to propagate and spread the best varieties. In 1920-1951 board member of these societies. Promoted the expansion of wheat crops in Estonia.
Since 1945, the director of the Igevskaya State Breeding Station. Since 1946, Corresponding Member of the Estonian SSR Academy of Sciences.
Stalin Prize in 1948 - for the breeding of new high-yielding varieties of grain crops: winter rye "Igeva 1", winter wheat "Luunya", spring wheat "Iygeva Cauca", barley "Igeva 453"
